All boundary issues with Assam to be settled out-of-court, reiterates CM Khandu

Itanagar, Aug 15 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Sunday reiterated that all interstate boundary issues between Arunachal and Assam would be settled out-of-court.
“I and my Assam counterpart, Himanata Biswa Sarma decided that we will sort out all the issues of the Arunachal-Assam boundary out-of-court. Arunachal government has already started the process. We have constituted a High Power Ministerial Committee (HPMC) which is being headed by state Home Minister (Bamang Felix),” Khandu said while addressing on the occasion of 75th Independence Day.
The CM said, “Two internal meetings already held. Our meeting with community based organisations (CBOs) and All Arunachal Pradesh Student’s Union (AAPSU) was also held. The next meeting is likely to be held on August 20 which will be attended by all the stakeholders of the districts sharing border with Assam.”
Khandu said that after the entire process is over, then he will sit across the table with his Assam counterpart
to solve the vexed interstate boundary issues.
It may be mentioned here that in the recent meeting convened by HPMC chairman Bamang Felix,
various political parties, including Opposition Congress, Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum (AITF), a
conglomeration of several CBOs of the state and AAPSU had resolved to work as a team for attaining a permanent solution to the vexed interstate boundary issue between Arunachal and Assam.
“I am hopeful that through dialogue the Arunachal-Assam boundary issues will be solved. Till then,
neither from Assam side nor from Arunachal, there should not be any uniformed personnel activities,”
Khandu said after unfurling the Tricolour at the Indira Gandhi Park here.
”We shall make our claims and carry out all the exercises taking into consideration the Supreme Court-appointed Local Commission’s recommendations as the baseline,” he said.
Like last year, this year too, Independence Day was celebrated following all the Covid-19 protocols.
