Afghan born Indian national arrives in Delhi after abduction and release in Kabul
New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) Bansri Lal Arendeh, an Afghan-origin Indian national who was abducted at gun point from near his shop in Kabul on September 14 and released after a fortnight by his kidnappers, has arrived in New Delhi.
“I am glad to learn about the arrival of Bansri Lal back into the country along with his brother, and I thank the Government of India for facilitating it,” Puneet Singh Chandhok, President, India World Forum, told UNI.
Bansri Lal arrived late on Friday night via Tehran on Mahan Air, according to sources.
He thanked his friends, family and well-wishers and the Government of India on his arrival in India, the sources said.
Bansari Lal, aged around 50 years, was abducted on September 14 at around 8 a.m. from the vicinity of his shop in Kabul. A resident of Khost, he was living in Karte Parwan, district 4 of Kabul.
He has a business of pharmaceutical products and was going to his shop when he was abducted. His car was hit from behind and after that he was abducted at gunpoint and driven away in a green-coloured Toyota Corolla.
Bansari Lal’s family lives in Delhi.
Chandhok had appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help get Bansri Lal released.
After the abduction, the Ministry of External Affairs had said that they were “in touch with all concerned” regarding the matter and were monitoring the situation.
Bansri Lal was released by his abductors on September 29, safe and sound.
Afghanistan has been under the rule of the Taliban since August 15, when they took over Kabul.
