AAP Backtracks on ₹1,000 Stipend Promise for Women: LoP Bajwa

Congress Leader Slams Punjab Govt Over Unfulfilled Pre-Poll Commitment…..

Chandigarh : Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, has accused the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of reneging on its 2022 pre-election promise of providing ₹1,000 monthly stipend to women aged 18 and above.
Bajwa’s remarks follow reports that the Punjab government is considering limiting the scheme to non-income tax-paying women due to financial constraints. Government officials have hinted that implementing the plan may not be feasible at present.

Criticizing AAP, Bajwa claimed the party made “lofty promises” merely to win elections, adding that the delay reflects the government’s inability to fulfill its commitments.
