Attack carried out on Jammu Air Force station with balloons, not drones: BJP

Srinagar, Jun 27 (UNI) Claiming that the attack on Air Force Station in Jammu was carried out by balloons and not drones, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday said that it is a matter of investigation from where the balloons had come and who was controlling it.
In a video message, J&K unit of BJP spokesperson Brigadier (retired) Anil Gupta said that it was impossible for the drones to penetrate deep into Indian territory and carry out such attack on a clear night without being detected.
Two explosions rocked the high-security technical area of Jammu airport at around 0145 hrs on Sunday that left two personnel injured.
“A new face of Pak sponsored militancy has emerged last night. Two explosions were reported from the technical area of Jammu airport. How and who carried out the attack is a matter of investigation. Many speculations are being made… one such is that it was a drone attack,” he said.
Brigadier (retired) Gupta said that he doesn’t think that it was a drone attack. “It is very difficult for the drones to penetrate deep into our territory without being detected, particularly when the skies were clear yesterday,” he said.
“I think it is a balloon attack… Last month, PIA marked balloons were sighted near the border… I told at that time also that the balloons would be used to deliver IEDs,” he said.
The BJP spokesperson said that he believes that attack carried out last night was with balloons. “But from where the balloons had come and who was controlling it would be very difficult to say right now,” he said.
He said Pakistan doesn’t want peace at the border.
