Rival Rajarshi Shahu Shetkari Aghadi gains control over Gokul Dairy
Kolhapur, May 4 (UNI) The opposition front, led by three state ministers, successfully ousted the ruling front, led by industrialist Mahadevrao Mahadik, after 25 years and wrested control over the 21-member board of directors of the Kolhapur District Milk Producers Association, popularly known as Gokul Dairy, in the election, the result of which was announced on Tuesday.
The opposition front Rajarshi Shahu Shetkari Aghadi, led ministers Satej Patil, Hasan Mushrif and Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar, supported by former minister Vinay Kore, won 17 seats out of total 21.
While, the ruling front Rajarshi Shahu Aghadi, led by Congress MLA P N Patil and Mr Mahadik, supported by BJP, got only four seats, election officer said.
Some of the prominent winners included Abaji Patil, Shashikant Chyekar, Navid Mushrif, Karnsing Gaikwad, Arun Dingale, Ajit Narke and others (all of opposition front), along with Balasaheb Khade, Ambarish Ghatge, Ms Shaumika Mahadik (of the ruling front).
The election was held on May 2.
