Minister Highlights Corruption from Peons to Commissioners, Claims Officials Use Recommendations for Post-Retirement Benefits….

Minister Rao Narbir Calls Gurugram the Hub of CorruptionGurugram Haryana : In a scathing remark, Haryana’s Minister Rao Narbir Singh called Gurugram the “hub of corruption” while addressing ongoing issues within the state. He highlighted that the corruption problem in the city runs deep, affecting various levels of government officials. According to him, many officers, upon nearing retirement, seek political and administrative favors, such as a police station posting, to ensure post-retirement benefits.
Rao Narbir did not mince words while describing the city’s corruption culture. He pointed out that corruption is rampant in Gurugram, and the practice is prevalent from the lower rungs of the administrative ladder, such as peons, to high-ranking officials like commissioners. He emphasized that recommendations and favoritism are widely used for securing positions, with many officials leveraging their proximity to power to secure benefits after retirement.

The minister expressed his concerns about how such practices affect the overall functioning of the administration. According to him, when officials are more focused on securing their post-retirement positions through recommendations, the genuine administrative work and public service take a backseat. This results in inefficiencies and widespread dissatisfaction among the public.

While Rao Narbir’s statement sheds light on the internal issues within the Haryana administration, it also calls for a broader discussion about the need for administrative reforms. His comments have sparked debates about how to tackle the deeply rooted corruption in state and district offices.

Though some critics believe that the minister’s comments may be politically motivated, others agree that his remarks highlight an undeniable problem. Corruption, particularly in urban regions like Gurugram, is seen as a significant obstacle to transparent governance and effective public service delivery.

Rao Narbir’s statement is expected to prompt further investigations and calls for action from the Haryana government to address these allegations of corruption at various levels of administration.
