Mohali : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested 173 individuals in corruption-related cases in 2024, with 139 of them being government officials caught accepting bribes. Vigilance Bureau Chief Director and Special DGP Varinder Kumar revealed that the arrests also included 39 private individuals who had conspired with officials in graft activities.
Among the arrested were 53 Punjab Police personnel, 33 officials from the Revenue Department, and 18 from the Local Bodies Department. In addition, the Bureau launched 60 inquiries against 26 gazetted officers, 27 NGOs, and seven other individuals.
Kumar also noted that 71 investigations had been successfully concluded during the past year, underscoring the Bureau’s commitment to tackling corruption in the state.
