Farm Leader on Hunger Strike at Khanauri Border Demands Action on Farmers’ Issues…

Punjab : The Punjab state government has formed an eight-member medical board to assess the health of farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a fast-unto-death at Dabbi Gujran village, near the Khanauri border, since November 26. The board, led by the Medical Superintendent of Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, includes specialists from Government Medical College, Patiala, and Mata Kaushalya Hospital.

Dallewal, 70, is demanding a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, debt waiver, pension for farmers and farm labourers, no electricity tariff hike, withdrawal of police cases, and justice for Lakhimpur Kheri violence victims. Despite his deteriorating health, he has refused medical treatment and remains firm on his protest until his demands are met.

Earlier, government officials and health experts visited Dallewal at the protest site, offering treatment and suggesting his transfer to a hospital, but he refused. A makeshift hospital and ambulances have been stationed at the site, monitoring his condition around the clock.
