Three Arrested for Robbery in Dhanas Petrol Pump Incident

Chandigarh: The Sarangpur Police have arrested three individuals in connection with a robbery that took place near a petrol pump in Dhanas earlier this week.

On Monday, Lalit Yadav (21), a resident of Mohali, was filling gas at the Dhanas petrol pump when three to four men assaulted him, forcibly taking him behind the pump. The attackers stole ₹5,400 in cash, Yadav’s vehicle registration certificate, his Aadhaar card, and a spare tyre (stepney) from his auto-rickshaw.

Based on Yadav’s complaint, an FIR was registered under sections 309(4) and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police quickly traced the suspects, identified as Pankaj (20) from DMC, Avinash alias Chela (19) from Jind, Haryana, and Santosh Kumar (20) from Mullanpur, Mohali.

After their arrest, the suspects were presented before the court. Pankaj and Santosh have been remanded to judicial custody, while Avinash has been granted one-day police custody for further investigation.
