Delhi Nursery Admissions Close; First List on Jan 17, 2025

New Delhi: Nursery admissions for the 2025-26 academic session in around 1,741 private schools in Delhi officially closed on Friday, December 20. The Delhi government’s Directorate of Education (DoE) had earlier set the deadline for submission of registration forms.

The first general admission list will be released on January 17, 2025. Following that, the second list of selected students, along with the marks allotted, will be published on February 3, 2025. If needed, subsequent lists will be shared by February 26, 2025.

Many schools have reported a significant increase in registration numbers compared to last year. For instance, Pratika Gupta, Principal of Sovereign School, Rohini, mentioned that the school received over 2,000 registrations, surpassing last year’s figures. Similarly, Manisha Sharma, Principal of Venkateshwar School, Dwarka, revealed that their nursery registrations this year reached around 3,600, marking a notable rise in demand.

In line with the DoE’s directive, private schools must reserve 25% of their seats for children from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Groups (DG), and those with disabilities. Separate admission lists will be released for these categories as per the circular issued by the DoE.

The DoE has also specified age limits for nursery admissions. Children must be at least 3 years old by March 31, 2025, for nursery; 4 years old for KG, and 5 years old for Class 1. The upper age limits are under 4 years for nursery, under 5 years for KG, and under 6 years for Class 1.

Parents will be able to approach school heads with any admission-related queries from January 18 to January 27, 2025, after the release of the first list. Following the publication of the second list on February 3, parents can visit schools between February 5 and February 11, 2025, for further inquiries. The entire admission process will conclude on February 14, 2025.
