Panipat: As December 2024 begins, the cold wave has gripped the region, with temperatures dropping significantly. On Thursday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 23°C, while the minimum temperature reached 7°C, marking a noticeable drop as the winter season sets in.

The increasing wind speed, recorded at 10 km/h, is also contributing to the falling temperatures, further enhancing the chill in the air. As a result, there has been a sharp rise in the demand for warm clothing among residents. Local shopkeepers have responded by restocking their inventories every Sunday, bringing in fresh winterwear from Delhi and Lahore to meet the increasing needs of the public.

As December progresses, experts predict that the minimum temperature could drop further to 4°C by next week, signaling a more intense cold spell. According to local shopkeeper Santosh Kumari, the demand for warm clothes has been higher than usual this year. She mentioned that the new stock often sells out within a week.
