The Sabarmati Report’ Box Office Day 15: Vikrant Massey’s Thriller Sees Surge, Crosses Rs 24 Crore Mark

Cinema Lovers Day gives a significant boost to the political thriller's earnings as it continues to receive praise for its gripping narrative.

India : Vikrant Massey’s political thriller, The Sabarmati Report, which hit theaters on November 15, 2024, is seeing impressive box office numbers, especially after a surge on Cinema Lovers Day. While the film initially saw a decent opening and steady earnings, it experienced a dip post the second Sunday. However, the movie bounced back on its 15th day of release, crossing the Rs 24 crore mark.

On November 29, the second Friday for the film, The Sabarmati Report earned Rs 2.15 crore, according to early estimates by Sacnilk, bringing its total collection to Rs 24.15 crore. This boost came after the film had earned Rs 22 crore by day 14. The movie’s earnings had dipped after day 10, following a strong Day 1 collection of Rs 11 crore, but Cinema Lovers Day was a turning point.

The film, based on the 2002 Godhra incident, has been well-received for its compelling story and stellar performances, particularly by Vikrant Massey. The movie has also benefitted from being tax-free in several states including Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, which has contributed to its rising collections.

Vikrant Massey, who is known for his powerful roles, shared his thoughts on the film and his approach to responsible cinema at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), stating, “Cinema is a very effective medium, and we should try to tell stories that mirror society.”
