Born: –1469 – Guru Nanak Dev. Born in Talwandi Sabo (now Nanakana Sahib in Pakistan). Was a noble hearted saint son of Kalu Mehta, a trader and Mata Tripta. Nanak was a pious-hearted saint, social reformer, poet, writer, patriot and messanger of God. He was sent to a Bazaar, by his father to do business; he feeded Sadhus and called it a Sachcha Sauda,
Guru Nanak taught amity and love for humanity when Mongols and Arabs were raiding , looting and killing Hindu population. His teachings were compiled by his followers, especially by the 2nd Guru Angad Dev, into the holy book Guru Granth Sahib, worshipped as Living Guru on the instructions of 10th Guru Gobind Singh. The 2nd Guru also formulated 35 word Gurumukhi, a Punjabi script, Guru Nanak’s Shabd, teachings and thoughts are written in Gurumukhi and worshipped by Sikhs, Punjabi Hindus and followers worldwide.
1947 – Vidya Sinha. Very cretive model and romantic Bollywood actress. She also won Miss Bombay award. Known for roles in Raja Kaka, Basu Chatterji directed films Rajnigandha, Chhoti Si Baat, Pati Patni Aur Voh, Inkaar, Tumhare Liye , Kitaab, Mukti, Swaymvar and Safar etc. She refused the lead role in Raj Kapoor’s Satyam Shivam Sundaram for its bold and nude scenes. She married twice as her husband died early. She was nominated for Filmfare several times but missed the reward to competitors. She died on August 15, 2019.
1967 – E-40. Earl Tywone Stevens Sr. Amertican rapper, known by his Band name
1986 – Sania Mirza. Former world No. 1 Tennis player. Won 3 major Singles titles and 3 Doubles. She played in Doubles with Rohan Bopanna and Swiss ace player Martyina Hingis and won Women’s Dubles tiles. She married Pak crickewter Shoib Malik but recently divorced. She will act as Brand Ambassdor for UAE coach Dubai team.
1982 – Daljiet Kaur. India’s popular Punjabi and Hindi TV actress. Mostly works in serials Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Nach Baliye etc. and won an award.
1988 -B-o.B. Bobby Ray Simmon. American rapper. composer and producer.
1994 – Emma Dumont. American dancer, singer. Acted in The Gifted, Aquarious, and films Wrong Turn, The Bdy Tree etc. Received some Hollywood cine awards.
RIP: – 1949 –Nathuram Vinayak Godse., a Hindu Mahasabha actisit. Hanged for shooting Mahatma Gandhi dead on January 30, 1948. Though it is a mystery Nathuram Godse who motivated him to do this crime, as many Congress leaders were opposed to Gandhi’s support for Partition of India and sanctioning huge amount (then) Rs. 55 crores to Pakistan during 1947-48.
1982 – Vinoba Bhave. Great Gandhian philosopher, who started Bhoodan Andolan, asking big landlords to give their excess lands to the poor of the country, so thyat they could make thor living comfortly. Was known as Acharya Vinoba Bhave and lived in Gandhi Ashram Wardha, Maharasthra. He was honored with Ramon Magasaysey award in 1958 and Bharrt Ratna in 1983.
You May Not Be Aware: The longest living human being on record is Jeanne Loiuse Calment, a French woman who lived for 120 years, 164 days.She was born on Feb. 21,1875 in Aries, France and died on August 04,1997. She was a wealthy lady and never worked. On her last birthday, she said jokingly,
“I’ve waited 110 years to be famous, I count on taking advantage of it,” she quipped at her 120th birthday party.
