Punjab Farmers Reject Supreme Court Committee Invitation

Farmers' Organizations Decline Meeting

Punjab: Farmer organizations, including the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (non-political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), have declined an invitation to meet with the committee established by the Supreme Court. This decision comes after eight months of protests, with farmers asserting that they never requested the formation of such a committee. The committee had sent invitations regarding discussions on the legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price for crops, which the farmers refused.

No Demand for Committee Formation:
The farmers emphasized that they did not ask for the Supreme Court to form a committee, making the invitation irrelevant to their ongoing struggle.

Barriers Created by Haryana Government:
They stated that the pathways for their demands have been obstructed by the Haryana government, not by their organizations.

Written Communication to the Committee:
Along with declining the invitation, the farmer groups have sent a letter explaining their reasons for rejecting the meeting.
The decision signifies the farmers’ ongoing resistance and their insistence on pursuing their demands independently.
