Voting Underway for 90 Assembly Seats Amidst Violence in Rohtak

Rohtak (Haryana): Voting for 90 assembly seats across 22 districts in Haryana commenced today and will continue until 6 PM. With a total of 2.03 crore voters, including 1.07 crore men and 95 lakh women, this election marks a significant moment in Haryana’s political landscape. The results are expected to be announced on October 8.

Candidate Breakdown
A total of 1,031 candidates are contesting in the elections, comprising 930 men and 101 women. Among them, 462 are independent candidates, with 421 men and 41 women. The diverse range of candidates reflects the dynamic political environment in the state as various parties vie for power.

Violence Reported
In a disturbing incident, Balraj Kundu, a former MLA and candidate from the Haryana Janseva Party (HJP) in the Maham assembly constituency, was attacked in Madina village. The altercation resulted in damage to his clothing and injuries to his personal secretary. Kundu has alleged that the attack was orchestrated by former minister Anand Singh Dangi, highlighting the tense atmosphere surrounding the elections.
