Punjab Women’s Commission Acts Swiftly in Jalandhar Sexual Assault Case, Accused Arrested
The Punjab State Women’s Commission has taken prompt action in response to a media report highlighting the case of a 20-year-old woman from Jalandhar, who was allegedly sexually assaulted. The woman, employed in the postal department, went missing and was later found unconscious by Delhi Police. With the help of her family and the police, she was safely returned to her home in Jalandhar.
Raj Lali Gill, chairperson of the Punjab State Women’s Commission, took serious notice of the incident. She immediately issued a notice to Jalandhar Police, demanding strict action against the perpetrator. Following her intervention, the police arrested the accused, identified as Balwinder Singh.
Gill personally contacted the victim’s family, offering full support and assuring them that justice would be served. She emphasized the commission’s commitment to safeguarding the dignity and safety of women in Punjab.
