Air India, IndiGo approve 970 aircraft imports

Air India and IndiGo have given their approval to import 970 aircraft. Both airlines have recently placed massive orders for aircraft as part of their strategies to expand their operations. While Air India plans to purchase 470 planes from Airbus and Boeing, IndiGo has announced that it will purchase 500 planes from Airbus.

NEW DELHI: Air India and IndiGo have been given in-principle approval by the aviation regulating body DGCA to import a total of 970 aircraft.

Both ships have ordered a sizable number of aircraft as part of their growth strategies. While IndiGo will purchase 500 planes from Airbus, Air India will purchase 470 planes from Airbus and Boeing.

In a written response to a question from the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh stated that the availability of parking spaces is guaranteed at the time the NOC (No Objection Certificate) is granted for the actual import of the aircraft.
