Woman stabbed in Miami International Airport, forcing evacuation

MIAMI: A guy stabbed a woman at Miami International Airport Saturday night, prompting worries of an active shooter. Authorities evacuated hundreds of visitors.

The woman was stabbed outside Terminal J’s protected area on the fourth floor at 11:30 p.m.

The male also tried to hurl the woman over a railing, but she escaped, according to Miami-Dade Police Department spokesperson Det. Angel Rodriguez. He said officers apprehended the man without incident and found the firearm.

Rodriguez called it a “unprovoked altercation,” but police have not revealed if they knew each other. Police claimed the woman was critically injured by knives and hospitalized.

Rodriguez claimed responding officers confused some travelers into thinking there was an active shooter. Police stated they found no shooting.
