TMC leader Richard Marak imprisoned for inciting CM Sangma’s Tura office attack.

Richard Marak, the head of the TMC, was arrested for inciting a crowd to storm the office of the CM Sangma in Tura. With the arrest of Marak, the total number of people who have been detained in connection with the incident has increased to 19, and it now includes two women who are members of the BJP Mohila Morcha.

The Director General of Police LR Bishnoi said on Tuesday that the Meghalaya police had detained TMC leader Richard M. Marak for encouraging the crowd that attacked Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma’s office in Tura town. SHILLONG is the location of this announcement.

Marak, a close assistant of the previous chief minister Mukul Sangma, was taken into custody after a manhunt was initiated in response to the vandalism, arson, and attack that occurred on Monday night at the office of the chief minister.

As a candidate for the TMC, Marak ran against Conrad K. Sangma in the election for the Assembly but came up short. Sangma is currently the Chief Minister.

When Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma was meeting with members of the Achik Consciously Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK) and those of the Garo Hills State Movement Committee (GHSMC), who were on a fast to demand the state government adopt Tura town as the winter capital of the state, a mob of over 1,000 people gheraoed and pelted stones at the CM’s Secretariat on Monday evening.
