1899 – Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin was issued a U.S. patent for his invention of his “Navigable Balloon,” the rigid airship, known as the Zeppelin. The overall cylindrical shape with rounded ends was covered with a cotton shell, framed with aluminium struts, wire-braced and contained a number of independent hydrogen balloons used for lift.
1931 – The first US motion picture theatre built especially for rear projection of the movie was opened in New York City.
1993 – India seeks Interpol’s assistance in investigating the sources of bomb blasts in Bombay.
1995 – 1st time 13 people in space.
1998 – Sonia Gandhi takes over as the Congress(I) president from Sitaram Kesri.
2016 – NASA releases data showing February 2016 warmest month ever recorded globally – 1.35C above the long-term average.
2018 – NASA twin study finds that Scott Kelly is no longer identical to his twin brother after
one year in space, 7% of his genes altered.
2019 – Google announces its employee Emma Haruka Iwao has broken the world record for calculating pi, to 31.4 trillion digits, on pi day using Google Cloud.

1879 – Albert Einstein. German-American physicist who developed the special and general theories of relativity and won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921.
1949 – Farida Jalal, Bollywood heroine who acted in Aaradhana, Dli Wale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dulara, Ladla, Payal etc. She won 2 Filmfare and several other awards. (pic credit-Pinterest)
1965 – Aamir Khan, actor, director and producer. Acted in 3 Idiots, Dangal, Qayamat se Qayamat Tak, Rang de Basanti, Sarfarosh, Jo Jeeta Vohi Sikandar etc. Was awarded National Film award, Filmfare and several other awards.
1973 – Rohit Shetty, film director. Directed Golmaal series, Zameen, Bol Bachchan, Sooryavanshi, Dilwale etc. Won 3 film awards.

1883 – Karl Marx, great journalist, chief editor, writer and social worker. Wrote the famous book Das Kapital which propagated the doctrine of Communism which was adopted by Russia, China and many other countries later. 1901 – Sam Browne. Born in Barrackpore, he joined the British Army. Had his left arm severed from the shoulder in a sword fight. The wide leather belt used in the Army is named Sam Browne belt after him. He was a winner of Victoria Cross.
1932 – George Eastman. American inventor and industrialist who was a pioneering manufacturer of photographic materials, including rolled film and the Kodak camera.
1963 – Jainarain Vyas, freedom fighter, leader, social reformer, patriot and a noble son of
India. Member of Constituent Assembly of India and became 3rd CM of Rajasthan.
