Bangladesh reels under severe cold wave
Dhaka: Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) Thursday predicted that mild to severe cold wave sweeping over Rajshahi, Pabna, Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Jashore, Chuadanga and Kushtia districts may continue for more days.
“Mild cold wave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Jashore, Chuadanga and Kushtia and it may continue,” the Met office said in its 24 hours weather forecast commencing from 9am Thursday.
Due to differences in day and night temperatures, moderate to severe cold conditions are likely to persist in the north, north-western and central parts of the country during the period, it also said.
According to the statement, weather may remain dry with partly cloudy sky over the country while moderate to thick fog may occur over the country from midnight to tomorrow morning and it may continue till noon at different places.
Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged and day temperature may rise slightly over the country during the period.
The country’s highest temperature on Wednesday was recorded 28.2 degrees Celsius at Teknaf in Chattogram division while today’s minimum temperature was 9.0 degrees Celsius at Jashore in Khulna division. (UNI)
