GRIDCO, NTPC sign Rs 51,000 crore worth renewable energy MOUs in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The Energy department of the Odisha government on Thursday signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with leading CPSUs for an investment of Rs. 51,000 crores at the Make in Odisha conclave 2022.
Official sources said the first MoU was executed between GRIDCO and NTPC Green Energy for the development of large-scale on-ground solar, floating solar and pumped storage projects in the State.
In the first phase, 1000 MW pumped storage hydro and 2000 MW solar projects will be developed with an investment of Rs. 17,000 crores.
The second MoU was executed between GRIDCO and SJVN Ltd. for the development of a 2000 MW pumped storage hydro Project and 2000 MW ground-based and floating solar projects with a cumulative investment of Rs. 30,000 crores.
The Third MoU was executed with NLC for the development of large-scale on-ground solar, floating solar, pumped storage hydro and green hydrogen projects in the State.
Initially, 600 MW solar capacity and 5 million tons of green hydrogen production have been planned with an investment of Rs. 4,000 crores.
These MoUs are expected to generate 1200 direct and 2600 indirect employment in the state.
The Energy Department of the Odisha government organized a business leadership talk on the theme “Towards Greener Energy” on the second day of the third edition of the Make in Odisha conclave 2022.
The Odisha Renewable Energy Policy-2022 was released on the occasion which envisages the addition of 10,000 MW renewable energy capacity in the state.
Industry Minister P K Deb, in his keynote address, said that OREP- 2022 also provides multiple incentives for the development of renewable energy projects in the state. (UNI)
