Pradhan: Kashi-Tamil Samagam to be held from Nov 16

Varanasi: The Union Government is organizing a month-long Kashi-Tamil Samagam to strengthen the bond between people of Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, especially Varanasi.
Talking to the reporters Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the month-long event will be held in Varanasi which will begin on November 16. “IIT Madras and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) are the knowledge partners for the event which focuses on the deep academic, economic, social and cultural relationship between Varanasi and Tamil Nadu. The institutions will also host the organizers of the Samagam,” he said.
He said the Bhartiya Bhasha Samiti or the high-powered committee for promotion of Indian languages, reaffirm and celebrate the links between Tamil culture and Varanasi. The participants will visit the Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Prayagraj and Ayodhya,” he said.
The Union Minister said that India is a symbol of civilizational connectivity. “It would be an ideal platform to understand the unity in India’s civilizational assets through two historic centers. The broader objective of Tamil Nadu and Varanasi relationship is to bring the two knowledge and cultural traditions closer, create an understanding of our shared heritage and deepen the bond between the people of the two regions,” he said.
Pradhan said that nearly 2,500 participants will attend the event. He also urged the educational institutions to study and prepare research papers on Subramania Bharati who spent most of his years in Varanasi. (UNI)
