IT Minister Chandrasekhar inaugurates India’s first Lithium-Ayan battery unit near Tirupati today
Lithium-Ayan batteries presently being imported from South Korea, Vietnam and Hong Kong
Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh): Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT Dr Rajeev Chandrasekhar will inaugurate the country’s first Lithium battery manufacturing facility here on Friday.
In a press statement on Thursday, Tirupati district Collector M Venkatramana Reddy said the Rs 165 crore unit was set up by the Chennai based Munoth Industries ltd in one of the two electronic manufacturing clusters inaugurated by the PM in 2015.
The collector said the unit with an installed capacity of 270 MW will produce 20,000 batteries of 10 Ah of power per day.
The battery will be used in 60 percent of power banks, mobile phones and many other electronic cum audio units produced in the country.
He said the Lithium-Ayan batteries are presently imported from South Korea, Vietnam and (Feature pic credits-Deccan Herald) Hong Kong. (UNI)
