Odisha cabinet approves nine mega piped water projects worth over Rs.1210 crore

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet on Friday approved nine mega pipe water projects worth over Rs 1210 crore to provide safe drinking water to people in Dhenkanal, Kendrapara and Balasore districts.
Briefing newspersons after the Cabinet meeting Panchayatiraj and Drinking water Minister Pradip Kumar Amat told newspersons here that out of the nine projects four will be executed in Dhenkanal district, three in Kendrapara and two in Balasore district.
Amat said 3.22 lakh people in four blocks — Kamakhyanagar, Parjang, Kankadahad and Sadar blocks of Dhenkanal district, over 4.35 lakh people in three blocks—Pattamundai, Rajnagar, Garadpur in Kendrapara district and over 2.62 lakh people in Balasore, Remuna and Khaira block of Balasore district would be benefitted by the mega pipe water projects.
The Cabinet meeting on Friday approved the lowest tender of M/S Laxmi Civil Engineering Service Ltd Kolhapur for the execution of the projects in Dhenkanal for Rs 501.85 crore and in Kendrapara districts for Rs 416.57 crore.
The Cabinet also approved the tender of NCC Ltd Hyderabad amounting to Rs 291.62 crore for the execution of the project in Balasore district.The projects will be funded out of JJ funding.
All the projects are targeted to be completed within a period of 24 months.
The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took 16 Major decisions relating to the departments of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Planning and Convergence, Revenue and Disaster Management, Steel and Mines, and Water Resources.
The major decisions included a Special Program for promotion of millets in tribal areas, execution of pipe water supply projects in Dhenkanal, Kendrapara and Balasore districts.
The financial bid for Khalpal in-stream storage structures across river Brahmani, community harnessing and harvesting of rainwater, cyclone resilient saline embankment projects, and construction of barrage cum bridge across river Koel were approved by the cabinet
The proposal for creation of additional posts in Odisha Revenue Service group -B cadre also
received the nod of the cabinet. (UNI)
