Pune: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that his government was running on principles of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ as taught by great saints like Sant Tukaram.
Speaking to thousands of devotees of Sant Tukaram Maharaj after inaugurating Shila temple on the bank of Indrayani River at Dehu near here, he said that Sant Tukaram’s Shila is a centre of devotion and support, while his ‘abhangs’ (devotional poetry) have been a guide for many generations.
PM Modi, who visited the temple for the first time, expressed that it was his good fortune to attend the inauguration ceremony of Shila Mandir in Dehu.
He said, “Sant Tukaram was a Warkari saint and poet, famously known for ‘abhangs’ and community-oriented worship through spiritual songs known as ‘kirtans’.
He further said, “Saints taught us that discrimination between human beings is the biggest sin, and therefore, my government is running on the principles of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’.”
Sant Tukaram’s ‘abhangs’ gave him ‘urja’ (energy) and showed him the right direction, he asserted.
Noting that Tukaram Maharaj played an important role in the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Prime Minister said that his ‘abhangs’ are also important for instilling patriotism.
PM Modi reiterated that his government would spend Rs 11,000 crore on two margs (streets) for ‘palkhis’ (palanquins) of 350-km.
He had laid the foundation stone of the work in November 2021.
Former chief minister and BJP’s Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly, Devendra Fadnavis, also a short speech, referring to PM Modi as a “true warkari” and the “Pradhan Sevak”.
Earlier, Nitin More, head of the Dehu Sansthan, felicitated PM Modi with ‘Tukaram’s pagdi’ and a shwal.
