New Delhi, March 15: Manipur caretaker Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday categorically said that the BJP’s central leadership will decide on who will be the next CM of the state as he dodged the question on whether he would continue for the second term. “There is a procedure in BJP. The name of the next CM of Manipur has not been declared yet. The party has appointed Nirmala Sitharaman ji as observer and Kiren Rijiju ji as co-observer. They will visit Manipur and complete all the formalities and then will take the decision,” Singh, who has arrived in the national capital for the first time after the BJP’s stupendous performance in the North Eastern state, amid hush-hush on who will be the next CM, told reporters here. Singh, under whose leadership the BJP fought the Assembly elections in Manipur, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Nadda, and said, “In the last five years we worked on the mantra of ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas, sabka prayas’ and it helped us to get absolute majority.” Singh, who served as the first BJP CM for five years, retained the Heingang Assembly seat with a huge margin of 18671 votes. The BJP swept the recently concluded Assembly elections in Manipur by winning 32 out of the 60 Assembly seats (UNI).
