Goa BJP: Resignation of former CM Laxmikant Parsekar is ‘unfortunate’
Ex-Goa minister Dilip Parulekar appointed Goa BJP VP
Panaji, Jan 23 (UNI) Goa BJP chief Sadanand Shet Tanavade on Sunday said that resignation of former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar from the party was ‘unfortunate’. Addressing a press conference in the city, he said, ”Parsekar is a senior leader and has been party president in the state. He was in other committees of the party too and hence he knew that winnability is also important. His resignation is important.” Tanadavade pointed out that even he too was denied a party ticket once but he remained with the party. ”Even though I was denied a ticket, I remained in the party. It’s very unfortunate that he has quit the party. However, everybody has the right to take a decision,” he said. ”He (Parsekar) was given almost everything. He was party president, general secretary and even chief minister, the highest post in the state. But if still he thinks that being MLA is more important then its his choice,” Mr Tanavade said and claimed that BJP Dayanand Sopte will win the assembly elections from Mandrem constituency. Being unhappy over denial of ticket, Parsekar had quit the BJP on Saturday. The BJP has chosen Sopte over Parsekar. Sopte, as a Congress candidate, had defeated Mr Parsekar in 2017 assembly elections
