Yechury: CPI (M) main task is to dethrone the BJP
Hyderabad, Jan 9 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Sitaram Yechur said that the main task of the party was to dethrone the BJP and based on prevailing situation in the states, the party will adopt appropriate strategy to maximize the pooling of anti-BJP votes. Briefing newsmen here after the end of the three-day central committee meeting, he said the Central Committee has passed the draft political resolution at its three-day meeting which concluded here on Sunday.
Mr Yechury along with party Telangana unit secretary Tammineni Veerabhadam said that the three-day Central Committee Meeting (CCM) concluded here today. The main agenda of the meeting was to pass the Draft Political Resolution of CPI (M) Congress to be held from April 6 to 9 at Kannur, Kerala State.
He said that the CPI (M) vigorously follows party democracy. As part of it, a party resolution will be released two months before the party congress. The draft Political Resolution will be available in public domain in February. Every party man has the right to suggest amendments to the draft political resolution which will be adapted by the party congress, Mr Yechuri said.
The CPI (M) General Secretary said that the other political developments including forthcoming Assembly elections in five states-Uttar Pradesh, Punjob, Goa, Uttarakhand and Manipur were discussed in the CCM.
He said that the party’s main task is to defeat the BJP. Based on the conflict situation in the states the party will adopt appropriate tactics to maximize the pooling of anti-BJP votes, Mr Yechuri said.
The CPI (M) General Secretary said that the BJP led NDA Government at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed in all aspects including mismanagement in tackling of Covid-19 pandemic, down step of the economy, increase of unemployment, price rise of petroleum products.
