Congress hates PM but today they tried to harm him: Irani on security breach

Congress calls PM Narendra Modi's rally cancelation due to poor attendance, heavy rain, bad weather

New Delhi, Jan 5 (UNI) BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani on Wednesday slammed the Congress Government in Punjab over the incident regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security breach and said Congress leaders erupted with joy after hearing about the incident.
Taking a dig at the Congress, she said “We know the Congress hates PM Modi, but today, they tried to harm the Prime Minister of India.”
Addressing a press conference at party headquarters here, she said that such incident had never happened in the history of the country.
The BJP leader held the press briefing hours after Prime Minister’s first rally in poll-bound Punjab, scheduled to take place in Ferozepur on Wednesday, was cancelled due to what the Union home ministry has described as a ‘major lapse in the PM’s security.
Accusing the state police of failing to provide security to PM, she said, “Such is the breakdown of law & order in Punjab that the DGP, Police claims he’s incapable of providing security support to the PMO and security details.”
“The questions we, as BJP karyakartas and the nation needs to ask the Congress govt in Punjab is – Why did the DGP Police gave an all-clear to the PM’s security detail for the route that the PM was to undertake” Irani said.
She also alleged that Why did those who lead the security on behalf of the state govt not respond to any call or efforts to secure the PM?.
The Minister also said who in the Punjab government gave information about the PM’s route to individuals who planted themselves atop the flyover.? She said that video evidence, now publicly available, bring such questions to the fore.
“PM Modi, magnanimous as ever, on his way back, communicated ‘Zinda laut raha hoon!'” she said.

Congress leader Randeep Surjewala called ‘poor response and  bad weather’ as reasons for cancelling PM’s rally by Bhartiya Janata Party.
