Varun Gandhi questions curfew at night, rallies during the day

New Delhi, Dec 27: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Varun Gandhi on Monday took a dig at his own party, and said huge election rallies were being held in Uttar Pradesh even as Covid cases are rising and a night curfew has been imposed in parts.
“Imposing curfew in the night and calling lakhs of people in rallies during the day – this is beyond the comprehension of the common man,” Varun said in a tweet.
“Given Uttar Pradesh’s limited healthcare systems, we have to decide whether our priority honestly is to stop the dreaded Omicron or show electoral power,” he said.
This tweet comes as the BJP, as well as other parties are continuing holding rallies and public outreach in the state amid rising concerns over Omicron. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are also holding public events in the state. Varun had earlier criticised the BJP over their response to the farmers protests, and also on the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.
In a recent reshuffle of the National Executive of the BJP, Maneka Gandhi and Varun Gandhi were dropped from the prominent decision making body of the party.
