Punjab govt names Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib-Bela road after Mata Gujar Kaur
Public Works Minister Vijay Inder Singla announces the renaming of 44.5 km long road
Sangrur, Dec 16: Punjab Public Works Minister Vijay Inder Singla on Thursday informed that the state government has named the Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib-Bela road after Mata Gujar Kaur.
The Minister said that the road connecting to three historically important cities for Sikhs — Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib and Sri Chamkaur Sahib — will now be known as Mata Gujri Marg.
Mr Singla said that it was a small gesture of respect by the Punjab government towards the unmatched sacrifice of Mata Gujar Kaur who sent her whole family to attain martyrdom with any sign of regret. He added the road which have been named after her name has a great significance in the history as it connect the cities where four sahibzadas and she herself sacrificed their lives proudly fighting against the atrocities of mughals.
He said that on November 6, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has announced to name the Fatehgarh Sahib-Bela road after Mata Gujar Kaur and within a span of 10 days, the PWD has implemented his decision.
He said that the 44.53 Km long stretch directly connects Sirhind, Fatehgarh Sahib, Morinda and Sri Chamkaur Sahib cities.
Mr Singla said that the Channi-led government has been committed to ensure the overall development of the state within a few months and the PWD has also continuously been working to provide better road connectivity to the people of the state. He said that numerous projects have been completed in Punjab in this regard and better quality of the roads and other projects were also being ensured.
