Varanasi, Dec 13: Prime Minister Modi took a dip on Lalita Ghat of river Ganga before opening the glittering  corridor leading to ancient ‘Vishwanath Temple of Benaras’ and addressed an illustrious gathering of Sadhus, politicians and workers who relentlessly labored to complete his dream project in over 2 years.

With this the promises of ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh to revive the pilgrim city of Ayodhya and Kashi have been fulfilled said a party leader after inauguration. After giving Ayodhya, the gift of Ram temple, a year and half, now Kashi, parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, gets the new Kashi Vishwanath dham on Monday.
“Today history is created reviving the socio-cultural history of this ancient city which is vibrant with Hindu philosophy as enshrined in our religious books,” Modi said while inaugurating the corridor.

Modi had laid the foundation on March 8, 2019.
For BJP revival of Ayodhya, Kashi and Mathura are on its political agenda. In 2019 after the Supreme Court’s verdict allowing construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the organizations like VHP raised the slogan `Yeh to abhi jhanki hai, Kashi, Mathura baaki hai’ throwing the hints loud and clear that these issues will be raked up time and again.

The beginning was probably made on Monday with the inauguration of the first phase of the Kashi Vishwanath corridor. The opposition leader attacked Modi saying he inaugurated an incomplete project raising questions over the timing of the event.

SP president Akhilesh Yadav commented, “It’s good that the programmes are one-month long (for Kashi Vishwanath in Varanasi). They (PM Modi and other BJP leaders) should stay there for not only one, two or three months, people also spend their last moments in Banaras.”
“Why PM inaugurated an incomplete project? This is an attempt to sway the people on religious lines. BJP and Modi have altered the Hindu tradition to further their political aim,” Ajay Rai, former MLA from Varanasi said.

However, UP minister Sidharth Nath Singh reacting on SP president comment said, “Akhilesh Yadav’s reaction for PM shows that he can’t digest the redevelopment of Kashi and pride of rising Indian culture here. It clearly shows that he isn’t inspired by Indian culture but by Jinnah culture. So, he’s reacting like this. It’s unfortunate.”

There is no doubt that the lavish event, which drew crowds of thousands and saw the prime minister take a dip in the Ganges River, is being billed as a way for the BJP to attract and consolidate Hindu votes ahead of upcoming key state elections.
BJP Chief Ministers from 11 states and Deputy Chief Ministers from nine states attended this function.
