Amritsar : In a significant drug bust, the Border Security Force (BSF) has seized 8.5 kg of heroin dropped by a drone near Balharwal village along the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar. This marks one of the largest drug hauls in recent times, underscoring the increasing use of larger drones, including hexacopters, for smuggling narcotics across the border.8.5 kg Heroin Seized in Amritsar by BSF
The seizure followed credible intelligence on drug trafficking in the Balharwal area. At around 7:45 AM, BSF personnel, stationed in an ambush position near a suspected drone drop zone, heard a heavy object falling to the ground. Upon investigation, they discovered a large packet weighing 8.560 kg, containing 15 smaller packets of heroin.
The packet, wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with five illuminating strips and a steel ring, indicated that it was likely dropped by a drone. This successful interception highlights the growing challenge of drone-assisted drug trafficking and the BSF’s vigilance in combating such illegal activities.
