As Charles and Kate face racist allegations, Buckingham Palace is ‘exploring all options’

At first, the majority of UK media sites refrained from naming the royals, but once TalkTV revealed Charles and Kate’s names from the Dutch book scandal, the story has taken center stage.

LONDON: Amid a racial controversy surrounding the incorrect naming of King Charles III and Princess of Wales Kate Middleton in the Dutch version of a contentious new book, Buckingham Palace officials announced on Friday that they were considering all available options, including going to court.

‘Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival’ by Omid Scobie, which debuted on book shelves worldwide this week, reiterated a claim made by senior members of the British royal family regarding the skin tone of Prince Archie, who was born in May 2019 and is the son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

African American-born Meghan brought up the matter initially after she learned that an unidentified royal had made reference to the skin tone of their firstborn during the couple’s controversial Oprah Winfrey appearance more than two years ago.

Although the senior royals were not named in the main edition of Scobie’s new book, the Dutch version made the accusation that King Charles and Kate had discussed the skin color.

“We’re looking at every possibility,” a palace representative informed the BBC.

At first, the majority of UK media sites refrained from naming the royals, but once TalkTV revealed Charles and Kate’s names from the Dutch book scandal, the story has taken center stage.

When questioned about the controversy, UK Security Minister Tom Tugendhat told TalkTV, “Someone has written some rumour and scuttlebutt that has made various claims about His Majesty the King that are, frankly, completely unproven.”
