Every year on November 8, coffee lovers celebrate National Cappuccino Day, a nod to the rich Italian tradition. The cappuccino, dating back to the early 1800s, is named after the brown robes of the Capuchin friars, reflecting its unique blend of espresso with the cloud-like foam of steamed milk on top (pic credit-Pexels).

1927 – Lal Krishna Advani, great patriot, RSS pracharak and politician. Was Bhartiya Jan Sangh leader and co-founder of Bhartiya Janata Party, alongwith AB Vajpayee. He served as BJP President for longest ever period taking BJP from 2 Lok Sabha seats in 1984 to 182 in 1998 and helped form the 2nd NDA Govt. led by late Atal Behari Vajpayee in 1998 for 13 months . He led Rath Yatra from to Ayodhya in 1990 which led to demolition of Babri Masjid structure in 1992. Was elected to Lok Sabha 7 times and Rajya Sabha 4 terms. Served as 7th Dy. Prime Minister of India from 2002 to 2004-.
1947 – Usha Uthup, Bengali/Tamil and Bollywood pop, zazz and film singer. Has sung in many Indian languages and won Filmfare awards 4 times and was awarded Padam Bhushan by Govt.ofIndia.

1661 – Guru Har Rai. Second son Har Kishan became the 7th Sikh Guru age of 14 years and remained Guru for 17 years until his death on Oct. 6, 1661. He was a spiritual leader and nationalist in his preachings.
1960 – Air Marshal Subroto Mukherjee OBE. (the first Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force), died while having dinner in Tokyo, where he had gone with the Air India International Airlines which made its first inaugural flight to the city of Tokyo). He was awarded several honors and awards.

Navratri is a festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti/Devi are worshiped.
The festival is celebrated across the length and breadth of India in some varied forms. But in some parts of India (Gujarat and South India) on the ninth day of the festival, weapons and tools are worshipped! Shri Ram also fought his yudh against Ravan to get back his wife Sita from Ravan’s captivity in Sri Lanka, during Navratras and won on 10th navratra, called Dashhara (cutting down his 10 heads with his astra-shatras), Ram-Lakshman were victorious with the help of Hanuman, Sugriv and their vanar sena.
