Good News for Devotees Traveling to Kartarpur Sahib Visa Fee Waived
- Punjab: In a significant relief for Sikh devotees heading to the revered Kartarpur Sahib, the Pakistan government, led by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, has waived the visa fee. This change means that the thousands of pilgrims who visit the holy site each year will no longer be required to pay the visa fee, which was previously around ₹1,700. This decision not only lightens the financial burden on Sikh devotees but also strengthens the ties between the two nations by encouraging religious tourism.
Visa Fee Waived:
The waiver of the visa fee is expected to make the pilgrimage to Kartarpur Sahib more accessible for Sikh devotees. The removal of this charge has been a long-standing request from India, advocating for a more affordable and simplified process for pilgrims.
On-Arrival Visa Facility:
Pakistan has also announced that a visa-on-arrival facility will now be available, simplifying the travel process for devotees even further. This step is anticipated to increase the number of pilgrims visiting Kartarpur, enhancing convenience and ease of travel.
Positive Impact on Tourism:
With nearly a million Sikh pilgrims visiting Kartarpur Sahib annually, the decision is projected to boost Pakistan’s tourism sector, bringing greater economic benefits and cultural exchange opportunities between India and Pakistan.
