Democracy Clubs to Educate Students on Electoral Process

A Step Towards Strengthening Democracy: CBSE Schools to Promote Electoral Literacy and Leadership Skills

CBSE Introduces Democracy Clubs in Schools:
Punjab: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued new guidelines requiring all affiliated schools to set up “Democracy Clubs.” These clubs aim to educate students about the democratic process and electoral system from an early age. This initiative seeks to foster a deeper understanding of democracy, encouraging students to become informed and responsible citizens.

Fostering Leadership Skills and Civic Engagement:
Through these Democracy Clubs, students will gain insights into leadership skills, the importance of civic engagement, and active citizenship. The program is designed to help students understand their potential role in democracy and prepare them for future responsibilities. By instilling democratic values early, CBSE aims to create a generation of leaders who value integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Collaboration with Election Commission of India:
This initiative, supported by the Election Commission of India, will integrate electoral literacy into the school curriculum. The collaboration aims to enhance critical thinking and promote democratic participation among students. By involving students in discussions on democracy and the electoral process, CBSE hopes to create awareness about the importance of responsible voting and the impact of active citizenry on the country’s future.
