Kaithal: A young man’s suspicious death in the village of Baloo, Kaithal, has raised alarms as his family claims he was assaulted over allegations of stealing a tullu pump. The police have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Incident Overview:
On October 13, Monu, a local Chinaai (plumber), failed to return home for several hours, prompting his family to search for him. They eventually found him sitting in the courtyard of a local man, Jogi Ram Pandit, who accused Monu of stealing his tullu pump. The family claims that Jogi Ram physically assaulted Monu during this confrontation.
Allegations of Assault:
According to Vikram Singh Prajapat, Monu’s brother, when they confronted Jogi Ram, he insisted that Monu had indeed stolen the pump. In a bid to defuse the situation, Vikram offered to return the pump. However, Jogi Ram allegedly responded that they could retrieve the pump, but Monu would not survive the ordeal, continuing to beat him with kicks and a stick.
Police Investigation:
The Kalayat police arrived at the scene on Tuesday morning to take statements from the family. They have initiated an investigation into the allegations, including the circumstances surrounding Monu’s death and the reported assault. The community remains on edge as they await the findings from the police.
