1537 – The first complete English-language Bible (the Matthew Bible) is printed.

1675 – Christian Huygens patents pocket watch. These were the most common type of watch from their development in the 16th century, until wristwatches became popular after World War I during which a transitional design, trench watches, were used by the military. (pic  credit-Meister Drucke).

1911 – First public elevator (London’s Earl’s Court Metro Station).

1977 – Former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi was released unconditionally by a judicial magistrate, after spending 16 hours in police custody for charges of political corruption. (This marked the beginning of the road that would take her back to the prime minister’s chai)r.

1986 – Helicopter Corporation of India established.

2012 – Nissan unveiled the NSC-2015 electric car prototype at the Ceatec 2012 show in Tokyo. The car can drive and park itself, it was also able to turn and recognise some road signs.

1967- David Harper. US antigues expert, speaker, presenter and TV artist.  SWon several awards.

1978 – Soha Ali Khan –Bollywood  actress, younger daughter of veteran actress Sharmila Tagore and cricketer MAK Pataudi. Acted in Ramg De Basanti,  Mumbai Meri Jaan, Khoya Khoya Chand, Ghayal Once Again, Tum Mile etc. Won Filmfare, StarDust, Producers Guild and more awards.

1980 – Shweta Tiwari – Bollywood actress and TV celebrity.  Known for serials Kasauti Zindgi Kay, Parvarish Kuchh Khatte…, Main Hoon Aprajita, Mere Dad Ki Dulhan, Indian Police Force, and films like Begusarai, Aapka Apna Zakir etc. winner of Bogg Boss in 4th edition. Won 4 Indian TV Academy awards and  many nominations.

1847 – Pratapsingh Bhosle, Eighth  and last Maratha King of Satara. An able adminstrator, religius and learned ruler between 1808-38.

2023  -P Jayadevi. Tamil   scriptwriter, producer and director. Known for her works like  Nalam Nalamariya Aaval , Sivaji,  and Vilangu. Films like Paasam Oru Osham, Power of Women,
