Bangladesh Opt to Bowl First in Chennai Test Against India

Toss and Decision: Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and elected to bowl first in the opening Test of the two-match series against India on Thursday at the Chepauk Stadium, Chennai.

India’s Playing XI: India has named a balanced squad with three seamers—Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep, and Mohammed Siraj—and two spinners, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

Bangladesh’s Strategy: Bangladesh has also opted for a pace-heavy attack with three pacers, indicating the seam-friendly nature of the Chepauk pitch.

Historical Context: This is the first instance in 21 Tests that a team has chosen to bowl after winning the toss at the Chepauk Stadium. The last time a side opted to bowl first here was in 1982.
