Box Office Report: The Buckingham Murders Day 3 – Kareena Kapoor’s Film Shows Strong Uptick, Rakes in Rs 5.30 Crore

After a modest start, Kareena Kapoor’s The Buckingham Murders has demonstrated significant improvement at the box office over its first weekend. The film, which launched with Rs 1.15 crore on Friday, saw a notable increase in collections, earning Rs 1.95 crore on Saturday—a rise of 69.57%. The positive trend continued on Sunday, with the film garnering Rs 2.20 crore, bringing the total domestic collection to Rs 5.30 crore by the end of the weekend.

Despite a limited release on 1,334 screens across India, the film’s performance has been commendable. On Sunday, it achieved an 18.80% occupancy rate for Hindi shows, peaking at 28% during evening screenings. The film had the highest number of screens in the NCR region with 378 screens and saw 19% occupancy. In Mumbai, it was shown on 240 screens with an 18% occupancy rate, and in Ahmedabad, where director Hansal Mehta has roots, it was displayed on 226 screens with a 15% occupancy rate.

Kareena Kapoor has been actively promoting the film and shared her enthusiasm for both her role and her debut as a producer on social media. She expressed pride in her involvement and encouraged audiences to watch the film, stating, “As an actor, it’s the choices one makes… And I am very proud of this choice. Please watch this story and dive into my world of crime and drama… a dream I have always had to act in or produce one… but here I got the best of both worlds. Premiering at the 67th BFI London Film Festival on October 14, 2023, The Buckingham Murders follows a British-Indian detective, portrayed by Kareena Kapoor, who grapples with personal tragedy while investigating a child’s murder in Buckinghamshire. The film also marks Kapoor’s debut as a producer, alongside Ekta Kapoor. The project, made on a budget of Rs 40 crore, is reported to have recouped its budget before release, with box office earnings now considered profit. The film features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Brar, Rukku Nahar, Ash Tandon, and Keith Allen.
