‘Indien Fest 2024’ revives Indian Culture in Frankfurt over the weekend

Frankfurt (Germany) : The two day  vibrant Indien Fest 2024,  held in Frankfurt presented the Indian diaspora,  a lively community  bonhmie filled with joy,  colour, and  revival of  mini-India ambience in the financial capital of Germany and Europe.   The city witnessed a vibrant celebration of Indian culture on September 7-8, 2024, at Rossmarkt, during the annual ‘Indien festival’, organized by the Consulate General of India in partnership with Indian Associations across Europe and supported by the City of Frankfurt. The event showcased over 700 artists from  over 50 Indian cultural groups, presenting classical, Bollywood, and folk dances, martial arts, and songs  from  various Indian states and cultures.

The event was made possible through the generous support of prominent sponsors, including SBI, TCS, Stones Expert, Anjappar Restaurant, CTP Advance Materials and Inder Hock. Radio Frankfurt and Apna Frankfurt served as official media partners, helping to amplify the event’s outreach and impact.

The event featured stalls highlighting Make in India, Yoga, Ayurveda,  Indian handicrafts and ethnic wears, featured under ODOP initiative, along with culinary delights from eight prominent Indian restaurants.

The Fest was officially inaugurated by Consul General Mr. B.S. Mubarak and Frankfurt Mayor Frau Dr. Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg on Saturday last,  who praised the Indian community’s contribution to Frankfurt’s diversity and economy.  The Consul General addressed and congratulated the Indian Associations, cultural organizations, and dedicated community members who have worked tirelessly to unite the diverse Indian cultural organizations under one umbrella. Their collective efforts have successfully created a vibrant platform that not only showcases the rich tapestry of Indian culture but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and cooperation among the various socio-cultural groups.

Mayor Frau Gruenberg in her remarks, praised the diversity among Indians and the contribution of Indian community to the diversity and economic progress of Frankfurt.

The opening ceremony included the performance by Kathak Dancer, Mr. Deodatt Persuad & Group and German Singer Ms. CassMae who mesmerised the audience with their performances.

There was a Digital Raffle draw organized in the event powered by Bhogya.Online and Thapovan Info Systems Pvt. Ltd. The winners got exciting prizes including free tickets to India sponsored by Air India Deutschland.

Embodying the theme of ‘Celebrating the Spirit of India’, Indien Fest 2024 in Frankfurt offered a vibrant and immersive experience, capturing the essence of India’s rich cultural heritage. The event provided a unique and unforgettable journey through the sights, sounds, and flavors of India, bringing the colours of India to the heart of Frankfurt.

With an estimated 20,000+ attendees and visitors, Indien Fest 2024 offered an immersive experience of India’s  cultural richness, and diversity,  making it a grand success.

Apart from Indian migrant and settler families  in Frankfurt, thousands of  their  friends  from other nationalities in the City of Frankfurt enjoyed the Fest, relished  Indian dishes, bought ethnic Indian dresses and  carried home Indian handicrafts,  as glittering  momentos of their tastes and likings.
