Yemen’s Houthis promise ‘massive’ retaliation to Israel strike.
HODEIDA: On Sunday, Yemen’s Houthi rebels threatened a “huge” reprisal against Israel after a deadly hit on Hodeida. The Gaza war has spawned regional instability.
Israel struck the Palestinian territory, Lebanon, and Yemen in quick succession this week in retaliation to Iran-backed militant attacks.
The Israeli military intercepted a Yemeni rocket as it continued its offensive in the besieged Gaza Strip, despite Washington’s claims that an agreement to end more than nine months of war with Hamas was approaching the “goal line”.
The civil defense organization reported dozens of deaths since Saturday in Gaza, including attacks on homes in central Nuseirat and Bureij and displaced residents near southern Khan Yunis.
In the Saudi neighborhood west of Rafah in the south, residents reported heavy artillery and confrontations during a large operation.
Hezbollah and Hamas said they fired at Israeli positions from south Lebanon hours before the deadly Gaza raids, while Yemen’s Houthi rebels pledged to respond to Israeli airplanes bombing a crucial port.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree warned Sunday that the rebels’ “response to the Israeli aggression against our country is inevitably coming and will be huge.”
