CR Patil to remain Union minister and Gujarat BJP president.

Ahmedabad: Union Minister of Jal Shakti and Gujarat BJP president C R Patil, who promotes ‘one person, one post’ in the BJP, will continue to hold both positions.

Even though Patil has publicly asked to resign as Gujarat state president, sources say he will stay till November. After the October/November Gujarat municipal and panchayat elections, the BJP will likely fire him.

On Friday, Patil met with party leaders at the Gujarat BJP headquarters in Gandhinagar. He introduced numerous new members at the meeting.

BJP Gujarat had a ‘Brihad Karobari’ (extended executive) meeting at the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Salangpur, Botad, on July 4–5. Regional President CR Patil led the meeting.

In this ‘Brihad Karobari’ session, state president CR Patil expressed his wish to resign under the ‘one person, one position’ premise.

Mr. Patil replied, “Relieve me from presidential duties on the basis of one person, one position. I told party workers and the high command my feelings. Put someone leader in charge who will unite everyone and boost party success.”
