Ira Vatsain grabs a Gold at Serbia’s leading Tennis tournament

Serbia, a break-away nation from erstwhile Yugoslavia is now famous for Tennis legends and is among top competition centres of the indoors sport

Ira2Serbia: Vatsain family’s charming little daughter Ira Vatsain from  Tyongli, a small village in Himachal Pradesh unfurled family flag high by clinching the champions’ Trophy in  Belgrade, Serbia, the land of  Tennis World No. 1 player Novak Djokovic,  early this week.  Ira, now being trained at  LPDT Academy  in Cape Town,  flew  last week to  Serbia on  her first international  competition tour  for kids’ Under-9, Under-10, Under-11 categories in the  17th Teniske Nade   Tournament at TK Haron Club, where participants from  over 10  countries gathered to test their skills on the Clay Court.

Ira3 1Ira Vatsain had registered entries into 3 cetegories, as above, where she clinched Gold Trophy at the first contest and  Bronze medal in the second one.  She plans to return to her next international contest next year at the Vatsainssame venue. Meanwhile she is practising hard to enter more contests in the forthcoming Tennis season.   She trains under established  coach Lance-Pierre Du Toit in Cape Town. Her father, Saurav Vatsain, a senior  IT professional and former Taek Wondo champion during his /school college days in Delhi, motivated Ira  to  make sports as career apart from her studies. And the daughter has set on her path with great confidence !

Vatsain family celebrated the occasion as their daughter  has made a proud entry into International tennis circuit with a Bang.  Her grand parents and  uncle Er. Kamal Vatsain’s  family including aunt Nivedita, cousins Kkanishka and Pratham Vatsain were elated  and  celebrated  the victories  in Europe’s   financial  capital,  Frankfurt, while  their victorious daughter broke  her return journey  early this week.

Ira   and Vatsain family also participated in the International Yoga Day event  in Frankfurt organised by the Cosulate  General of India on Friday.  A large number of Indian diaspora families living  in Germany were present and  teachings of Isha Yoga, Art of Living, Sehaj Yoga etc. were practiced.
