1881 – A patent was issued for his invention of a piano player to American John McTammany.John McTanmay

1913 – The South African Government pass the Immigration Act, which restricts the entry and free movement of Asians; it leads to widespread agitation and rioting by resident Indians, led by Gandhi.

1938 – Chlorophyll was patented as a “therapeutic agent for the use in the treatment of infection” of the bloodstream, infected parts, and for open cuts and wounds.

1942 -1st bazooka rocket gun produced in Connecticut, US. (Bazooka is the common name for a man-portable recoil-less anti-tank rocket launcher weapon. The innovative bazooka was among the first generation of rocket-propelled anti-tank weapons used in infantry combat).

1942 – Anne Frank begins her diary. (The Diary of Anne Frank is a book of the writings from the Dutch language diary kept by Anne Frank while she was in hiding for two years with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. The family was apprehended in 1944, and Anne Frank died of typhus in the Bergen-Belsen Anne Frankconcentration camp. The diary was retrieved by Miep Gies, who gave it to Anne’s father, Otto Frank, the family’s only known survivor. 1943 – Helicopter buses were proposed by Greyhound for large-scale public travel. Igor Sikorsky had mooted the idea. Greyhound Skyways began with a pair of four-place S-51 Sikorsky Helicopters, painted in blue-and-white with a greyhound logo. Within just a few years, it closed after facing the reality of being non-economic.

1944 – 1st B-29 raid against mainland Japan.

1962 – Albert DeSalvo, better known as the Boston Strangler, murders Anna Slesers, his first victim. (The Boston Strangler is a name given to the murderer {or murderers} of 13 women in the Boston area, US iRajiv Zian the early 1960s. The crimes were attributed to Albert DeSalvo based on his confession, details revealed in court during a separate case and DNA evidence linking him to the last murder victim. Since then, parties investigating the crimes have suggested that the murders were committed by more than one person).

2013 – Massive flooding occurs in northern India killing up to 10,000 people.

2021 – Cristiano Ronaldo removes sponsors coke bottles from his press table at the European Championships, Ronaldoprompting the company share price to drop $4 billion.

2023 – Fossil bones found in Tam Pà Ling (Cave of the Monkeys), Laos, dated to 86,000 years, are oldest known examples of modern humans (Homo sapiens) in South-East Asia.

2023 – Phosphates discovered on Enceladus, a moon of Saturn. Last of essential building blocks of life found there (others carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur) raising possibility of extraterrestrial life.

1989 – Zsa Zsa Gabor arrested for slapping Beverly Hills motorcycle patrolman. (She was a Hungarian-American actress who began her stage career in Vienna and was crowned Miss Hungary in 1936. She emigrated to the United States in 1941 and became a sought-after actress with “European flair and style,” with a personality that “exuded charm and grace).
