DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav assures a fair trial in journalist RS Taggar case

Investigation to be handled by DIG Ropar range

Chandigarh:  A delegation of prominent media persons from Mohali and Chandigarh  were assured by Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav, of a transpartent and fair trial  in the case of  senior journalist Taggar caseRajendra Singh Tagger, who has been alleged to be arrested by Police in false cases under extorsion and blackmailing  sections.  The delegation  also handed over a memorandam to Additional DGP (Law & Order)  Arpit Shukla  in the Head Office, Chandigarh.

The media delegation diplored  the treatment to a senior journalist Taggar and his staff,  like a gangster by the Punjab  Police, and raised their demand for fair and impartial trial. It was also brought to the notice of DGP and Additional DGP that   video Editor of RS Taggar company, Punjab Dastavez, was beaten with slippers and bared naked in Mattour Police Station by the raiding police party and was frightened to leave the company and place of work.

The delegation comprised of Sukhdev Singh Patwari, President Mohali Press Club,  Nalin Acharya President of Chandigarh Press Club, Balwinder Jammu, President Chandigarh Union of Journalists and former Member Press Council of India, Jagtar Singh Bhullar Head of Chandigarh Unit, Sukhvir Singh Bajwa, Working President, Jai Singh Chhibber, former President Chandigarh Press Club,  Senior Journalist Anil Bhardwaj and officials of Mohali Press Club Gurmeet Singh Shahi and Manjit Singh Chana.
