Sulabh International celebrates 52nd Foundation Day
NEW DELHI, MAR 5 (UNI):- Sulabh founder Dr Bindeshwar Pathak being offered sweet to mark 52nd foundation day of Sulabh International in New Delhi on Saturday.
Bindeshwar Pathak was born in a Brahmin family Rampur Baghel village of district Vaishali, Bihar. His mother was Yogmaya Devi and his father was Ramakant Pathak – a respected member of the community. Inspired by Gandhi’s concerns for lower caste and downtrodden, he started the movement to provide convenient toilets across the country and helped eradicate the ‘maila pratha’, cleaning toilets by human scavengers.
His actions aimed at rehabilitating manual scavengers, resorting their dignity by providing alternative employment through skill development present an inspiring example of promoting peace, tolerance and empowerment by a non-violent means.
